Isn't it ironic Ted? No Dougal, It's just an unfortunate scenario, there's no reversal of expectations.
Although one could argue that by Mrs. Doyle having so many teaspoons around the place, one would expect to have at least one knife lying around, which qualifies as a reversal of expectation. This obnoxious argument is the essence of irony.
